Steroid Abuse

By newsportspics

It is a well known fact that steroids are used in treatment of cancer & AIDS but there use is still considered as improper in athletic training. We can compare steroid usage to ingestion of substances which can also be harmful, such as junk food, alcohol & painkillers. The basic fact is that controlled utilization is always useful but obsessive & uncontrolled use of any substance can be considered abuse.

Similar to any other medical product steroids can also be abused. Steroids can be abused in various forms from being taken too much in one time to higher doses being taken over prolonged period of time.

Use of steroids is quite abundant but most often athletes who buy steroids, use them in an educated & controlled fashion. Their abuse is mostly by people who do not know about the effects & negatives and are also not aware of how usage of steroids can be balanced so that the gains outweigh the side effects.

Athletes who buy anabolic steroids as well as steroids in general take help of physicians in constantly monitoring the usage & perform regular blood work.

It is necessary to select steroids properly based on the requirements of the athlete who is going to use them otherwise steroids can have damaging effects on the person using them.  If steroids are abused they can result in liver toxicity, suppression of natural hormone production, cholesterol problems & cardiovascular issues.

It is worth mentioning that simple usage of steroids can show similar negative effects but they would not be as damaging if their use is closely monitored & in many cases would be reversible.

I agree with the statement. Nowadays in any sport, the steroid use has increased significantly. It really is a shame to see so many athletes decide to cheat and start taking steroids at an early age. What kind of example does that set for the rest of athletes? I understand that sports are extremely competitive and people will try anything to get that competitive edge, but steroids are not the answer. I also agree with the abuse and overuse of steroids in sports. It is really difficult to see athletes who do it the right way. Those are the athletes that just work extremely hard and are dedicated. They don’t need to take steroids to “juice them up”, they do it the right way without the need of cheating. It is a real shame to see where sports and steroids are now interchangeable these days.
